Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session

The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

The British racer, who took the points lead from his teammate by a single point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, beat the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.

Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before the sprint shootout set to begin at the evening session.

The Red Bull star, the other racer in realistic title contention, lying 36 points behind Norris, ended up in P17 as his team opted for a alternative strategy.

His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to go off, if briefly, when he lost control at the fourth corner early in the session.

The Japanese slid over the track edges before sliding over the gravel trap, and was blessed to get away with just a slight brush of the barrier.

Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the very end of the session, spinning around through the fast downhill corner before the last turn on to the pit straight.

The veteran ended the session in 19th, one place behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.

Norris and Piastri were well clear of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber P3, over half a second behind the Australian's time.

Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
